Bean with Bacon Soup

1 3/4 c. White, Dry Beans
2 Qt. Water
1 medium Onion
1 tsp. Salt
3 Tbsp. Molasses
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
2 Tbsp. Ketchup
3/4 tsp. Taco Sauce, ~ (optional)
1/2 tsp. Chili Powder, ~ (optional)
4 strips Bacon, ~ 12 inches long

Wash Beans in cool Water, and drain.
.
Put Beans in a Soup Kettle, along with 2 Qt. Water...
bring it to a boil, let boil for about 2 minutes,
then remove from heat,
keep it covered, & let sit.

Chop up Onion and add to the beans,
along with all other ingredients.....
except the Bacon.
.
Cut Bacon into 1 inch pieces,
and just slightly fry.
Add to the Soup.

Let simmer for 2 to 2 1/2 hours,
stirring occasionally.
