1 c. Coffee, -{ very strong
4 c. Flour
2 tsp. Baking Powder
1 1/2 tsp. powdered Cloves
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 lb. Raisins
1/2 lb. Currants

Cream the Sugar & Butter;
add Strong Coffee, Flour, Baking Powder,
Powdered Cloves, Cinnamon,
Raisins, & Currants.

Mix Well.

Is this the way the recipe is in the book, no temperature or time? Since the book was published in the year 1901, I suppose the ovens were wood burning and control of temperature was difficult. Hence amount of time would vary.
