Toad in the Hole

An old
English Recipe

From a 1908
Cook Book

1 c. Flour
1 Egg
1 c. Milk
some Salt
some Pepper
1 tsp. Baking Powder
2 Tbsp. Butter
little Sausages
.
Put the Flour in a basin with the Salt,
and make a well in the center.
Break the Egg and put it in with 1/4 c. Milk.
Beat well, then add the remainder of the Milk by
degrees, beating all the time.
Melt the Butter in a pudding tin.
Parboil the Sausages, cut them in halves,
put them in the tin.
Add the Baking Powder to the Batter,
then pour it over the Sausages.

Bake in a hot oven
for 1/2 hour.
