Orange Bread

By:
Ella Denbrook
I will copy this recipe the way it was written down.
Orange Bread 2 loaves
Mama Denbrook
Chop rinds of 3 oranges real small. Boil in salt water until tender.
Drain and blanch, then add 1 1/2 c. sugar & 2 tsp. water & boil slowly until transparent.....
add to dough, made thus:
Beat 2 eggs - hard - add 1 c. sugar, combine 2 Tbsp. melted butter & 1 c. milk.
Add 3 1/2 c. flour, 3 tsp. baking powder & pinch of salt.
Add the orange mixture & put in greased bread tins. I use 2 little smaller tins
than regular bread tins.
Bake at 350 for about 35 minutes. or test it like a cake.

I made this orange bread and like it very much. It is labor intensive but worth it. I see at the beginning it says: Mama Denbrook. That must be our great grandmother (Grandpa Denbrook's mother)
